Under the current administration we have come to distrust government
departments and agencies. We have seen the political party in power using the
Justice Department and the FBI to implement their own agenda. Are they now
operating through the National Park Service?
Speaking of current renovations to the ‘undercroft’ of the Lincoln Memorial, Jeff Reinbold, superintendent of National Mall and Memorial Parks, said in a statement, “Thanks to the National
Park Foundation and its generous donors, visitors will be able to view this
dramatic architectural feature, learn about how the memorial was built, and
how its meaning has evolved over the last century.” Evolved? Really?
The enclosed photographs taken this past Friday (June 14th) suggest what’s next.
They are tunneling under the Lincoln Memorial to build this museum (quite a
step down from the temple it has always been) complete with a larger souvenir
shop and movie space. Initially touted as educational movies about Lincoln’s life,
they will soon devolve, like Disney, into misuse and abuse. Once you have a
movie screen in place, you can show any movies you want to feather the nest of
the political party in power. They will say such things as “Lincoln stood for
equality, why not gender equality?” (or the whole woke agenda).
Secondly, Students for Life very successfully borrowed a page from Dr. Martin
Luther King’s book last year. Just as he took the case for the equal humanity and
personhood of the black man over the head of the U.S. Supreme Court to God
Himself in his “I Have a Dream” speech delivered on the steps of the Lincoln
Memorial; even so Students for Life took their case for the equal humanity and
personhood of preborn children over the head of the U.S. Supreme Court to God
Himself on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial last year.
The Lincoln Memorial is our nation’s ‘temple’, occupied only by a single marble
statue of Lincoln. It symbolizes EQUALITY as is expressed in our nation’s
Declaration of Independence: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are CREATED
EQUAL, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness…”
High up over Lincoln’s head we find these words carved into marble:
“In this temple
as in the hearts of the people
for whom he saved the Union
the memory of Abraham Lincoln
is enshrined forever.”
The pro-aborts saw the prophetic symbolism of the backdrop of the Lincoln
Memorial at last year’s Celebrate Life gathering (held on the first anniversary of
the Dobb’s decision). They realized that the patriotic and reflective nature of a
‘national temple’ evokes a spirit all its own, and has great potential to inspire the
nation to change course and treat preborn children according to our national
values of justice and equality. Yes, the pro-aborts know this. Is it mere
coincidence that Students for Life are returning this year to find a mess on the
steps and all around the Lincoln Memorial?
Students, don’t let it bother you. Simply set up down at the farthest end of the
steps right next to the west end of the reflective pool. See enclosed photo taken
Saturday, May 31st just past when the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra
gave a rare outdoor concert.
Billed as “from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial” and when they got there to set
up they simply set them up down by the reflecting pool. The photograph of the
orchestra and the audience captures the Lincoln Memorial beautifully and
poignantly in the background. The photographer taking the picture was standing
next to the base drummer (I know because I was there and the professional
photographer was a photographer that I hired). If either the photographer or the
base drummer had taken one step backward, they would have fallen into the
reflecting pool.
So, Students for Life, that is where you want to set up your podium from which
the speakers will address those assembled – facing the audience and facing the
Lincoln Memorial. You will want to take pictures over the shoulders of the
speaker and those who are standing beside him or her. We don’t need the
speaker’s face as much as we need the Memorial in the photograph. Don’t let
them trick you into doing it the other way because they understand the value of
an image (such as the image of the Lincoln Memorial). Simply follow the lead of
the Kennedy Center Orchestra Band and position your cameras to feature the
Memorial in the background. There is more than one way to skin a cat.
