Phil Robertson, a football and sports business legend, died over the Memorial Day weekend. He was 79. Known for his Christian witness, he was often heard to say that a nation or a culture could not long exist without God and a reverential respect for God in that nation and culture.
Many feel that our forefathers were guided by the hand of Providence in drafting our nation’s Constitution, and in setting the country up to begin with. Many do not realize it, myself included until a short time ago, but our founding fathers, inspired by God as they were, gave the Chief Executive the White House. They gave the Congress the Capitol Building, but they did not give the U.S. Supreme Court a building of its own. Instead, they gave them a stage coach, putting them to ‘riding the circuit’ – going to the people and sitting as a Supreme Court in the major cities of the nation at the time -Philadelphia, New York, etc.
Think of the inspired wisdom in giving the Supreme Court a stage coach. It’s the wisdom of God Himself. God sees the future from the past. A building is needed to consolidate power. A powerful looking building can be used to do evil things in a powerful way (Roe v. Wade). Roe v. Wade would never have been obeyed by handing the same written opinion out of the window of a stage coach. You can hand out the window of a stage coach papers that are truly just in the human heart.
The powerful Supreme Court building (only recently erected in 1934) was a gift of the taxpayers and the devil used this imposing building in concert with minds he had won over to kill the preborn grandchildren and preborn great grandchildren of the same taxpayers who gave the building. It now falls to the grandchildren and great grandchildren of those who unwisely gave the Court its building and who survived this modern day holocaust to repent of this sin that was foisted upon our nation. If we are to truly “Make America Great Again”, we need to heed the scripture found in 2 Chronicles 7:14 to which the Bible of Ronald Reagan’s mother was opened when he placed his hand upon it to take his oath of office for his second term.
Meanwhile, what can be done with and what can be said about a Supreme Court that has elevated itself above the people, convening itself as a super-legislature to make law, something that was supposed to be the exclusive domain of the Congress itself? The Supreme Court was placed there to ‘call balls and strikes’, not re-write the rule book. The Court needs to be brought down from the lofty perch it has given itself.
A story is told of a farmer who had a stubborn mule. A bystander watched as the farmer picked up a 2 x 4 and hit the mule on the head. The bystander asked, “Why did you do that?” The farmer replied, “First, I get his attention. Then I talk to him.”
It is the prerogative of the nation’s chief executive to hold the Supreme Court in session through these turbulent months in the federal court system this summer. The president can do this by simple executive order (that is his 2 x 4). Think it out. The courts traditional 3 month summer break is an anachronism of the past left over from the days before air conditioning when the court took it upon itself to lock the front door and take off for the seashore or the mountain lakes for the summer and not return and unlock the door until October 1. Unbelievably, they continue to get away with this! They play hooky all summer and when they return in the fall complain that their homework is backed up (the Court receives approximately 10,000 requests for appeal of which they can choose only 80 to be accepted for oral argument and decision). President Trump needs to hold the Court’s feet to the fire and not leave Tom Homan waiting for answers in October about all these spurious federal lawsuits that are being filed to slow down his effort to get these dangerous criminals out of the country.
Thus, as we think it out:
1. There is an urgent need for the Supreme Court to be kept in session this summer.
2. The Court would have no choice but to obey an executive order to do so because to insist upon their 3 month break when the rest of the nation is lucky to squeeze out a one or two week vacation will leave the court with egg on their faces.
This is step one in rearranging the pecking order. The president speaks for 70 million Americans who just finished giving him an overwhelming vote of confidence and a mandate to carry out their wishes. If he needs the court in town to help him do that, so be it!
People will then begin to look at the Court in a different way. They may reason: “Maybe they are not all-powerful after all, looming over not only the Congress but the president himself. May be it’s the other way around.” “After all,” they reason, “the Court had to obey the president and stay in Washington.”
If you agree, let’s get the word to the president while we have in office a man with the courage to rename the Gulf of Mexico the Gulf of America. The Court is scheduled to leave town mid-June and not return until October 1.
