God is the same – yesterday, today and forever. He never changes. His ways never change. He is a loving God, but He is also a just God.
Our prophet, Abraham Lincoln, reminded the nation of this in his 2nd inaugural address during the midst of the Civil War:
“Fondly do we hope–fervently do we pray–that this mighty scourge of war may speedily pass away. Yet, if God wills that it continue until all the wealth piled by the bondsman’s two hundred and fifty years of unrequited toil shall be sunk, and until every drop of blood drawn by the lash shall be paid by another drawn with the sword, as was said three thousand years ago, so still it must be said, “The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether…”
(Abraham Lincoln, 2nd Inaugural Address)
The Civil War was fought over the equal humanity and personhood of the black man. The nation was rent apart. Over a century and a half later, our nation is again rent apart over the equal humanity and personhood of all men, red and yellow, black and white, as preborn children. Sixty million have died by the abortionist’s sword (scalpel). Our own Supreme Court condoned it just as the Jewish ‘Supreme Court’ long ago condoned the crucifixion of Christ (Mark 14:55).
“But what sword can avenge the
little ones 60 MILLION strong?
But the nuclear sword in the enemy hand
which threatens to destroy our land
And now we see our Father
as in the time of old
You punished Your people (the Israelites) whom
You loved by allowing their enemies bold
To overrun their camps; scale the walls
of their cities fine
And scattered their tribes over
the face of the earth for departing
in sin from Your vine…
So where does our salvation as a nation lie
as we’re soon to be caught in the strife?
Repent, repent the little ones
that we cruelly took their life
Fall to the ground and pray!
(Prayer for the Preborn Child)
“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
(2 Chronicles 7:14)
We in the prolife movement understand this. We must pray for our nation and for those still doing abortions and for those states of the Union who are condoning the killing of preborn children. We must pray for the women who are suffering from post-abortion syndrome – victims themselves of the lie of abortion.
Scripture tells us in truth that “a child shall lead them” (Isaiah 11:6). This coming June 24th, Students for Life shall lead the nation in a prayer of forgiveness for our nation’s eternal, mournful loss of 60 million little ones created in the Holy Image of God.
We must pray for our nation and for her grave sin of abortion. Only God’s forgiveness and light can overcome the darkness.
Yours very sincerely and respectfully,
R. Martin Palmer
P.S. The kids are out of school in June. Let’s bring the family to this great pro-life gathering on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial this June 24th (a Saturday). Make it a family vacation at the same time for the kids to see the Smithsonian Museum and all of our beautiful nation’s capital.
The warm summer weather will be a pleasant change from the prolife rallies of the past in the cold month of January.
