As this letter is written, HR3755 – the so called Women’s Health Protection Act
is being voted on in the U.S. Congress. It is nothing but an underhanded attempt to do an end run around the Supreme Court’s recent mandate to give the states complete autonomy and authority to pass laws – that the U.S. Supreme Court will uphold – protecting the lives of preborn children in their territory. The very title of the democrats’ proposal is deceit and double speak: ‘Women’s Health Protection Act’.
In truth the Women’s Health Protection Act does nothing to protect the lives of preborn women and all preborn children and turns a blind eye to ‘post abortion syndrome’ that affects women who have had an abortion causing depression, and in many cases, suicidal ideation.
In overturning Roe, the court upheld ‘state’s rights’. State’s rights are state’s right and the U.S. Supreme Court will uphold them.
Enclosed is a clearer copy of Dr. Lejeune’s Proposal of Law without my penciled notes thereon. We want you to have this to give to your state representatives and encourage them to submit it to their legislatures for passage in your state.
If they are not familiar with Dr. Lejeune, remind them that he was to the world of genetics as Einstein was to the world of physics. He passed away in Paris at sunrise on Easter morning, 1994, and Pope John Paul II issued a statement commending his life and finding more than coincidence in his passing on Easter morning. The canonization process for his sainthood began shortly thereafter. He is now referred to as ‘venerable’.
As a great scientist, he never viewed science as conflicting with his faith but rather discovered therein an affirmation of his faith. He defined the science of genetics in this way:
“In the beginning there is a message. And this message is life and this message is in life; and if this message is a human message, this life is a human life. And that is all of genetics.”
“It is also the beginning of a very old book: the Gospel according to St. John: ‘In the beginning was the Word’. And it is very comforting to we scientists that it took us only 2,000 years to discover what was there all along – ‘In the beginning was the Logos, the Word’.”
Speaking of the scourge of abortion that has overshadowed our world, Dr. Lejeune had this to say:
“The enemies of life know that to destroy Christian civilization, they must first destroy the family at its weakest point – the child. And among the weakest, they must choose the least protected of all – the child who has never been seen; the child who is not yet known or loved in the usual meaning of the word; who has not yet seen the light of day; who cannot even cry out in distress.”
Speaking of the denatured biology of human embryo experimentation, Dr. Lejeune left us with this incredible insight:
“There remains, however, another question. Our power grows by the day. We are going to make new beings (bacteria, vegetables, animals) by ways other than by natural or artificial selection. By that very fact we are certainly going to
modify the destiny of man before he perhaps modifies himself. I do not
know if we shall be able, during the lifetime of those alive today, to modify
the human brain, but no one can show that this will always be impossible.”
“In short, we are going to become more and more powerful. The biological
bomb is probably more dangerous for humanity than the thermo-nuclear
bomb. Then we will indeed require something to guide us. It will be
necessary to establish or rediscover a term of reference, for who can tell us
whether this will be good or bad? Who will teach us that?” (Is there a natural morality? by Jerome Lejeune in the Linacre Quarterly, Vol. 56, No.1 Feb 1989, p. 29)
“So now we must choose, and we need something which would tell us in every case what to do; some touchstone that would tell us what is good and what is evil. There is a phrase. You know it. If the politicians remember it, they can always make honest laws. If the technicians do not forget it, technology will remain an honest servant to humanity; but if both of them forget it, then you would have to deal with a very denatured biology and there would be A VERY DIM FUTURE FOR MANKIND! This phrase – you know it – it judges everything forever. It simply says, “As you have done unto the least of these, you did it unto me.”
Let us continue to pray for the little ones and for wisdom in getting our state legislatures to counter this mischief in the currently democrat controlled U.S. Congress.
Yours very sincerely and respectfully,
R. Martin Palmer
P.S. One additional statement of Dr. Lejeune’s comes to mind in light of this modern day Hitler named Putin and his nuclear threats. Also, the struggle is heating up to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon. As the President concludes his trip to Israel the week of July 11th, Putin is scheduled to visit Iran. Dr. Lejeune left us with this wisdom:
“If big American learns it is okay to kill little American, and big Russian learns it is okay to kill little Russian, then you are not going to tell big Russian it is not okay to kill big American, and you are not going to tell big American it is not okay to kill big Russian.” (Dr. Lejeune was speaking about nuclear war.)
As we pray for peace, we need to stop the war on preborn children in our nation state by state.
This is a time to pray in earnest the prayer of 2 Chronicles 7:14:
“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)
