Dear friends and family of the preborn child,
In October, 2016, and I was attending the National Christian Legal Society Convention in Alexandria, VA. There must have been thousands there from all over the nation. The weekend was filled with keynote speakers, breakout sessions and small group morning prayer meetings. At once such prayer meeting, I listened as participants questioned who they should back in the upcoming presidential election.
A vote for Hillary Clinton was out of the question and Donald Trump was a problem. Where did he stand with the faith? If only Mike Pence were the candidate! When it came my turn, I said “Yes, I agree. We would like to have Mike Pence as the presidential candidate, but he could not win the election by himself.” I told them “Donald Trump sells soap and perhaps the good Lord knows that, and together they will make a winning combination.” And, I further added “Mike Pence can be an influence on Donald Trump in matters of faith.”
I remembered that incident earlier this year while I was watching the last State of the Union speech. President Trump again called for Congress to ban partial birth abortion saying that these little ones are ‘CREATED IN THE HOLY IMAGE OF GOD.” One side of the aisle stood in thunderous applause, the other side of the aisle (most especially those dressed in white) sullenly sat on their hands. The president looked back over his right shoulder at Mike Pence and gave a quick nod as if to say, “Did I say it right, like you have been telling me?” I thought then that the vice president surely must be influencing President Trump for the good.
Back to the 2016 Christian Legal Society Convention – At its conclusion, while my colleagues and I were saying our goodbyes, I said to Sam Casey (a past president of the Christian Legal Society) “Sam, Donald Trump is going to win the election by a landslide.” The pundits had all been quoting the ‘polls’ that had already given the election to Hillary and Sam looked at me like I had two heads. We were both in a hurry so I went one way and he went the other. I called him after the election and his first words when he picked up the phone were “You were right! How did you know that?”
What was it Humphrey Bogart said to the piano player in Casablanca? Play it again, Sam!
You are about to witness a replay of the 2016 election. The landslide will be so overwhelming there will be no need for a recount.
Yours very sincerely and respectfully,
R. Martin Palmer
P.S. Judge Amy Coney Barrett was sworn in at 9 pm last night as the 115th Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court. She is a providential gift to our nation and to preborn children. But what kind of a mess of a court are we handing her? Where have we come as a nation? Or rather, how have we allowed the power of an unelected court to grow such that we are swearing in a Supreme Court Justice after dark like it’s an emergency? Good Heavens! This sounds like a under the cover of darkness, clandestine navy seal operation!
There is a famous French painting (somebody help me with the name of it) that shows a courageous woman leading the men behind her in battle. Amy Coney Barrett fits in that painting. She is cast in the mold of her mentor, the late Justice Antonin Scalia. He is assuredly with her in spirit.
Perhaps she can help the Chief Judge with his back problem (John Roberts has a yellow streak down his back). He was immature when President Bush appointed him to fill Judge Rehnquist’s shoes (Scalia would have made the best choice) and he is still immature. Yes, he is bright and has booklearnin’, but books don’t give you courage.
Chief Judge Roberts and a few others on the court are not exactly Captains Courageous. They want to please everybody. They want to be popular at the Washington cocktail parties. They do such a good job riding the top of the picket fence that they rip the seat right out of their pants.
P.S.S. Joe Biden gave the best speech I ever heard him give (obviously written for him) in Hot Springs, Georgia, spring boarding off of a history that FDR came here to take the warm waters to relieve his polio. Biden is no FDR, but his agenda is polio for the nation.
He concluded his remarks by saying he would “heal the soul of the nation” and yet at the same time he champions the barbaric prostitution of medicine known as partial birth abortion. How does one truly “heal the nation’s soul” while supporting the snuffing out of 60 million preborn souls and counting?
