Dear friends and family of the preborn child,
Taking his inspiration from the poem Prayer for the Pre-born Child, Father Clifford Stevens penned the words to the anthem Prayer for the Pre-born Child.
Below is a music CD in which soloist Dennis Stouffer sings Father Steven’s anthem followed by recitation of the poem Prayer for the Pre-born Child recorded a number of years ago.
The hope is to inspire you to think of a soloist that comes to mind in your own church choir who could sing this for National Sanctity of Human Life Day this coming January, 2019.
Father Stevens is a very cheerful man with a humble disposition and a keen intellect. He has said, as an aside, “Perhaps it could become the song of the pro-life movement.” His words may prove prophetic if you feel, as do I, that the pro-life movement needs a song – an anthem reminding us that our forefathers prayed for the protective hand of Providence when this our nation first was formed; and then reminding America that a “blot is on thy name” in the killing of innocent preborn children.
As we reflect on the words of the poem, we realize that the removal of the protective hand of Divine Providence leaves us at the mercy of our enemies. The words of 2nd Chronicles 7:14 in the poem provide a path of forgiveness and salvation for America and this becomes the prayer in our ‘Houses of Prayer’ and most especially on this coming National Sanctity of Human Life Day in January.
Yours very sincerely and respectfully,
R. Martin Palmer
